Beneath the Skin

There are a thousand different shades
beneath the colour of my skin.
The blush of the summers,
and the love that came with it.
The ivory of the clear sky
following the downpour,
right after the rain has devoured
all my anguish.
The amber of the autumn,
the melancholy
and hushed longings.
The greys of every winter
my heart has been through.
Cold, lifeless.
The saffron of the spring,
a new beginning.
Life again!
